Richard William Adams
;:AGE ;: 16 RACE ;: Human ABILITY ;: NoneDIET Human food
NAME:: Ricky
GENDER::male
STANCE:: If he knew vampires existed he'd most likely stand with the Cullens
PERSONALITY:: Being the strong silent type, (like he has a choice) Ricky tends to be very withdrawn, and incredibly shy. He stays away from large crowds and lots of people. He doesn't like prying eyes, so public displays of affection are out. He also isn't too big on getting close to a girl, mainly because he has a lot of trouble expressing himself. Ricky does a lot of drawing and reading so he's usually found in the local library, where he has an excuse not to speak. Most people know about his handicap, but that doesn't mean he likes to tell anyone about it. So he stays silent, tending to ignore people unless he has to speak to them.
While Ricky stays silent, he has a talent for playing the piano and is often in his house playing a piano his parents own. He hasn't shown anyone this talent yet, mainly because of his shyness and his unwillingness to express himself. Since he hasn't shown anyone, he's not sure if his work is any good, but composing songs on the piano is a way for him to get his anger, his feelings and everything else out that he used to express with words.
Since he can't express himself with words and he doesn't speak, Ricky is very good at walking away from a fight, so if anyone pushes him too far, he just walks away. His inability to speak has given him a rather odd trait. When he's angry, frustrated, sad or upset he'll growl, grunt, snarl or whimper, giving him a rather animal-like appearance. He has been called 'Jungle boy' at times and this always makes him smile.
Ricky is a rather gentle soul and cries easily, so don't be alarmed if he's wiping at his eyes from behind a book. He's a very good listener too, being unable to speak will do that to a person, needless to say. He's a good person to talk to, for he will keep your secrets. Unless it's a 'oh my god she's a killer' sort of secret. He has an incredible love for cats, they're small, quite animals and are very sweet, so anything that has to do with cats is good in his book. Small animals enchant him, they don't know it isn't natural for him not to speak to them.
His love for sweets makes him a little bit of a push over. Okay, he's a big push over when it comes to his sweet tooth! A bag of chocolate is all he asks in return for homework help.Two bags of chocolate will get an essay done for you. A baked good? That will get you his soul.
All in all, Ricky is a shy, withdrawn boy with a brain and a love for all things sweet.

HISTORY:: Ricky was born in a hospital just like any other baby. He blissfully spent his years in his neighborhood going to school, playing with children his age, getting into soccer, playing in the mud, ruining new clothes and generally being a normal child. When he was five, his mother took him to a concert and that's when he fell in love with music. Straight away he begged his parents for piano lessons soon he became addicted to them. He was quite good at it and he never needed to be asked to practice the piano. In fact, sometimes his parents would have to make him stop in order to get him to eat, bathe or sleep.
When Ricky was ten, things went to hell. He met his first wild animal, and payed a price for his wonder and curiosity.When Richard was just ten years old. He walked up to it, seeing a baby bear! He loved bears! Maybe it had porridge for him! He'd never had porridge before. He rushed straight at it, asking it if it wanted to play. That was the worst mistake Ricky could have made. The mother of the bear tore from the forest and attacked him, savagely going for his neck. Ricky lost his glasses, unable to see to get up and run, he lay there, his arms in front of his face, already ripped to shreds. He heard a gunshot, then a loud roar, his father shouting, his mother screaming and then blacked out. When he awoke, his throat was on fire! He later found out that the scarring was permanent and worst of all? He would never be able to speak again. He could grunt, growl, snarl and make a pathetic attempt at laughing, which sounded more like a hoarse cough than a laugh. He was devastated. Thanks to his child-like wonder, he forever lost his power of speech. He withdrew into himself and instead sat in his hospital bed, motionless and silent. Listening to other children around him laughing, shouting and playing in the children's ward. He didn't see much point in getting up or even playing.
He spent most of his time in the hospital, in bed. His best friend Jack (who had been his friend since by were toddlers) couldn't even get him to smile. Ricky was extremely depressed. What was the point in making an effort? However, once he'd been given the all clear to leave the hospital he took one last look around the area and began to think. 'I'm alive aren't I? That bear didn't kill me. I'm not dead. I can still play the piano.'
That was it. That was what gave him the strength to move forward. The fact that he could still play the piano. He smiled over at Jack and then stuck out his tongue and poked him playfully in his pudgy little cheek. The next year was spent learning sign language so he could communicate with his family and his best friend. For every day communication he carries a notebook and a pen, writing down whatever he wants to say.
Ricky stays strong on the outside, but inside he knows that he'd give anything to regain his voice. Anything.
